Perspective But here on earth we hide from home and end up in an
urn.
By Carter MacPhee, Grade 10 Occasionally, the bravest ones will build a rocket ship
A minute in a cotton cloud And shoot themselves into the black, determination on
Is a lifetime on the ground their hip
You can spend forever searching proud But these ones have lost the truth and forgot the easiest
But above all truths are found way
Is to close your eyes and feel the wind and gently start to
We build these spaces on the Earth to keep us safe from sway
harm
But these walls, they separate us, the real cause for alarm At first, it is a child’s game, one that we all know
But soon a voice creeps in the door and carefully starts
Four walls and a roof - a toothless thing - they say that we to show
all need
But turn your eyes up to the skies and watch the heavens The secrets hidden in the black are the same behind our
bleed eyes
And all we need is time and space to pry away the lies
We come from above, all stars and dust, longing to return
Our friends are all and different is the same, no matter
color or creed
If only we can see us in others, the world we start to feed
Enveloping the human race, hands held tight together,
Peace is our anthem, love our language and we’ll be One
forever.
