Jeanette Gu
Artist Spotlight
What medium do you use the most?
Colored pencil, but I most enjoy the soft hues
and flowing lines of watercolor.
What is your favorite style?
Academic Art by Bouguereau.
What subject matter do you use the most?
People; I do the occasional animal.
What inspires you?
Beauty, passion, music, historical, and
present-day artists.
Which one of your works are you most
proud of?
A piece that I recently finished for this year’s
AP portfolio titled Anxiety. It’s a step away
from the ideal art I usually do, and I was proud
of myself for finally exploring a more
outlandish side.
Have you won any awards for your art-
work?
Yup! I’m honored to be recognized by the
Scholastic Art & Writing Awards for some of
my work. I’ve gotten a few Gold Keys, Silver
Keys, and a National Medal!
Do you have any showings of your art-
work?
A website and an Instagram. (Above) Embrace, Jeanette Gu, Grade 12, Colored pencil.

Instagram artists inspire me the most. A few of
my favorites are @zkcris, @muri110, and
@mnstrrexia.
