The Girl in the Snow Words

I wish our lives were like the stars Words are powerful.

The whole world was dusted with the white That can shock someone with delight

behind her. It was as time had stopped, Making others feel large or minuscule,
and it was only me and her. Fair skin and Helping some up or bringing them down.

upon to leave my soul and go with her
wherever she takes it. Everything was at
a cold simmer. She slowly glanced at me.
An expression of slight worry with an ever
so slight indent on her forehead. I knew I
needed to look down, but there was a mag-
net in her eyes. I was left staring. This short
phase felt like only an eternity which I didn’t
want to ever leave me. With every step she
took I felt the sounds of the surroundings
coming back to my ears. Slowly, ever so
slowly, everything was coming into normal-
ity. All the harsh realities of life hitting as the
streak of red was slowly approaching the
end of my frame. But right before the view
of her was blocked by a large curling Oak
tree, I caught glimpse of her looking back
at me with her lips forming a smile with a
dimple on her right cheek. And with that
she vanished into the harsh world beyond,
and time fell back into a loop. But with her
          she also took my heart...
          Morbidity

          By Rachel Kascheres, Grade 9

The man dove into the absolute depths of
          morbidity.

Not caring for his future nor consequences,
He swam and bathed in corruption,
playing with the idea of death.
